In this article I present 5 killer SEO article tips, which have worked effectively for my own home internet business ideas.

1.Keyword Selection.

As a first SEO article action you have to select the keywords very carefully. They are in the main role in this strategy. As you may know keywords are the words, which the searchers type into the Google search bar when they search the things they are interested in.

The best way is to use your website keywords, because they are targeted and the pre-selling of your SEO article happens exactly about the right topic. I would prefer keywords with Overture demand around 1.000 per month to quarantee that your SEO article will reach the first page position on the Google search results.

2.Research The Competition

You can type the main keyword of SEO article into the Google search bar and research whether there are any SEO articles on the first result page. If there is, it means in principally that also a SEO article can rank well with this keyword.. You can also analyze the keywords and their density and also the other SEO factors.

It is also important to analyze the onpage SEO factors of the first 5 sites of the results. If you will find errors in onpage SEO, the chances of your SEO article will increase dramatically, when you will prepare the article along the decent SEO rules. If there are sub-pages among the top 5 sites, even better.

3.The SEO Rules

Write the selected keywords into the headline, teaser and the bio box of the SEO article plus of course into the body copy so that the keyword density will be around 6 % of all the total words of your SEO article.
You can also use H1 and H2 tags ( sub-headlines ) and write your most important keyword into the H1 tag and the second most important into H2 tag.

If you have a website then you already know the importance of traffic. Traffic is to Internet marketing as location is to real estate. It’s the only thing that really matters. If you cannot generate targeted visitors to your site, you will not make any sales.

Usually the owner or designer of the website is the person designated to drive traffic to the site. The chief ingredient in generating traffic is the search engine. Of coarse, you can use advertising, but it’s going to cost you. Using the search engines to generate targeted (interested in your product) traffic is the least expensive method known.

Unfortunately, many website owners do not understand the importance of search engine visibility, which leads to traffic. They place more importance on producing a “pretty” website. Not that this is bad, but it is really secondary to search engine placement. Hopefully, the following list of common mistakes, made by many website owners, will help you generate more targeted traffic to your site…after all, isn’t that what you want.

1. Not using keywords effectively.

This is probably one of the most critical area of site design. Choose the right keywords and potential customers will find your site. Use the wrong ones and your site will see little, if any, traffic.

2. Repeating the same keywords.

When you use the same keywords over and over again (called keyword stacking) the search engines may downgrade (or skip) the page or site.

3. Robbing pages from other websites.

How many times have you heard or read that “this is the Internet and it’s ok” to steal icons and text from websites to use on your site. Don’t do it. Its one thing to learn from others who have been there and another to outright copy their work. The search engines are very smart and usually detect page duplication. They may even prevent you from ever being listed by them.

There are numerous factors which a search engine has to consider in order to rank various queries of which link popularity is a crucial factor.
To gain link popularity is not a difficult task but it sure does take a great deal of your time. The importance of relevance in the process of attaining link popularity is often argued upon by several SEO theorists who consider it highly essential. All the means which help in gaining link popularity have their own pros and cons. Hence you have to choose an option which would give you a relevant link without neglecting link popularity.

One effective way of acquiring free inbound links is by submitting your website to one of the many web directories. Most of these web directories do not charge you and you can have some more if you just reciprocate their links. But since this will consume a lot of time considering the large number of directories, most webmasters prefer to submit their site to a large number of high PR directories. So an effective long-run strategy would be to have high PR directories and apparent relevance to give a few excellent links without spending much. And if you submit only to a few directories everyday, you will have a continuous influx of relevant backlinks.

Some webmasters indulge in link exchange in order to get their inbound links easily, the only problem being unavailability of one way links. Moreover there are additional services which automatically perform link exchange thereby saving you a precious amount of time.

In order to gain link popularity and relevant links, you can also write articles and submit them to the article directories. Considering the vast number of article directories you can be assured that your article would count. Although this might be one of the best ways of getting backlinks, it can also prove to be very difficult to get the right material which would rank your page higher especially if your English skills are not ample for the task.

Unless you’ve just recently returned from a protracted space furlough cruising around the solar system, you are probably aware that the current Undisputed Heavy Weight Champ of Search is none other than Google a/k/a The Big Dawg of Search! What you may not know however, is how much of a Champ of Search they really are. Recent surveys and polls list Google as hogging more than a whopping 60% of global search market share.

In order to best understand how to keep your website in Google’s good graces you first need to know what their ultimate goal is, or that of any search engine for that matter.

SEARCH IS BIG BUSINESS

Search is a huge money-generating business and not merely a 20th century tool that enables you to conduct research while you slouch on your couch. So how big is the search industry really? Well let’s put it this way; in the year of 2006, online advertising racked up revenue in excess of $16.7 billion dollars and is expected to reach $45 billion in the next five years. Impressive huh?

Anyway these figures should give you some idea of the stakes involved in the search engine industry.

Further, more than 97% of Google’s not inconsiderable fortune is derived from online advertising. Remember as noted earlier, Google commands more than a 60% share of the global search market; which makes for one very good and big reason you should ensure that your website is googlicious (google extra-friendly).

GOOGLE’S OBJECTIVES AS A COMPANY DETERMINE ITS ONLINE BEHAVIOR

We’ve already established that search engines are dedicated to more than simply returning pertinent results to yours or any number of the various billion queries conducted each day; they are dedicated revenue generators.

Google is by far the largest search engine and derives more than 97% of its revenue from online advertising. And let’s not forget that Google is a publicly held company, meaning that it has an obligation to its investors to maximize yearly profits.

This then clues us in to what Google’s main objectives are:

1. Maximize Profits; by

2. Hosting the Largest Number of Advertisers; by

3. Retaining the largest number of conducted online searches; by

4. Supplying the most accurate results per query; which

5. Ensures that more people will use Google as their search engine of choice.

GOOGLE 2007 SHAKEUP

The year 2007 launched with considerable anticipation as well as turbulence for the SEO community. A Google algorithm change or modification that SEO analysts cannot yet as one agree to term either an update or data refresh was the cause of such unrest.

However whether it was an update or data refresh, what is not in contention is that it certainly shook up the SEO horizon and left quite a number of webmasters upset and disgruntled because their websites suddenly lost significant position for targeted keywords. The flip side of this particular coin had a good number of webmasters ecstatic over the realization that that their websites were suddenly ranking very well for their most coveted and targeted keywords.

The ripples of this Google shakeup had authoritative sites (which for time immemorial had been ranking well for particular keywords) suddenly drop several positions on the SERPs and in the worst scenarios disappear completely off the grid! (Most have been reinstated to their former glory.)

This shakeup now also meant that wizened old websites could no longer rely on the age factor alone to guarantee their index listings or page rank. In order to maintain their long coveted positions such sites need to be refreshing data or adding new content regularly.

Disconcerting as these new rules may be there actually is a lot of sense to this approach. Perhaps you may recall that in 2006 Google experienced a server overload super-crisis. There simply were not enough servers to accommodate the burgeoning number of web pages of the ever-expanding internet.

So to alleviate the situation Google adopted a number of modifications of which perhaps the most notable was the one which restricted the Google spider to crawl only those web pages that were accessible via external links. The rationale behind this was that pending the acquisition of new servers only such web pages that were considered of the utmost relevance would make it into the Google index.

Thus it is not too far of a stretch to consider the 2007 Google shakeup as a reinforced strategy on their part to avoid the server debacle of 2006 and by proxy also sharpen the accuracy of their indexed data.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR SITE GOOGLICIOUS IN A WORLD OF UPDATES!

1. KEEP IT FRESH
To maintain or elevate the page rank of your website or its listing on the SERPs, you need to add new content or at least refresh it on a regular basis. In the past it was possible for fairly old websites to remain static yet maintain their high page rank and SERP listing purely based on the age factor. Due to algorithm tweaks following the 2007 Google shakeup that is no longer possible.

2. KEEP THOSE LINKS GROWING
Using inbound links as the premier tool of measure for evaluating the importance of a website is not going to change any time soon. If you consider that an inbound link is an approximate thumbs-up vote for the linked-to site then you easily understand why this measure of evaluation is not about to disappear quite yet.

Certainly not all links are created equal such that links from topically relevant and related web pages are more highly rated than those from topically unrelated web pages. However it is not always possible to get such topically related links but the bottom line: your website is not going to mature on the SERPs or graduate page rank-wise without external inbound links.

And there’s the free kind which comes from the search engines. I don’t know about you but I would much rather prefer to receive sustainable free traffic then the paid kind.

SEO - What is it?

So how do we get free traffic and what’s involved. Free traffic comes from search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN. There are others but these are the major ones. People use search engines to find products and services. In fact most successful online business’ report the majority of the traffic they receive to their sites comes from the search engines. And unless your site appears on the first few pages of a search chances are you will not be noticed very often.

I don’t care if your site provides services, products, or information, search engines are a primary method of navigation for almost all Internet users.

Search Engine Optimization or SEO for short. Is in fact a process of optimizing pages of your website and make them search engine friendly so that they can be positioned in the top of search results for particular keywords.

How Search Engines Function

Search engines run automated programs, called “bots” or “spiders” that visit websites from all over the internet and gather information regarding web pages that are searched by the people. This is otherwise known as having your website crawled.

After crawling the WebPages on your site, the gathered content is stored in a huge searchable database of documents which make up the search engine’s “index”. The search engine arranges this information in various searchable fields, so that when a queried the search engine can scan billions of documents and completes this in fractions of a second.

The results which are displayed are the ones that most accurately portray the information related to the keywords that the user has searched for. A match is determined if the terms or phrase is found on the page in the manner specified by the user. Every search engine has its own algorithm (a mathematical equation commonly used for sorting) and matching criteria to provide the user with the result, so the result may vary for the same keyword in different search engines.

Ranking Results:-
Results are ranked based on a number of different criteria. They start from the top of the list being the most relevant to the bottom which is the least relevant. One of the key most important factors is keyword relevance. And in order to rank highly based on keyword relevance you need to have pages related to a specific keyword phrase.

Sometimes we rank well on one engine for a particular keyphrase and assume that all search engines will like our pages, and hence we will rank well for that keyphrase on a number of engines. Unfortunately this is rarely the case. All the major search engines differ somewhat, so what’s get you ranked high on one engine may actually help to lower your ranking on another engine.

It is for this reason that some people like to optimize pages for each particular search engine. Usually these pages would only be slightly different but this slight difference could make all the difference when it comes to ranking high.

However because search engine spiders crawl through sites indexing every page it can find, it might come across your search engine specific optimizes pages and because they are very similar, the spider may think you are spamming it and will do one of two things, ban your site altogether or severely punish you in the form of lower rankings.

The solution is this case is to stop specific Search Engine spiders from indexing some of your web pages. This is done using a robots.txt file which resides on your webspace.

A Robots.txt file is a vital part of any webmasters battle against getting banned or punished by the search engines if he or she designs different pages for different search engine’s.

The robots.txt file is just a simple text file as the file extension suggests. It’s created using a simple text editor like notepad or WordPad, complicated word processors such as Microsoft Word will only corrupt the file.

Have you created a web site and submitted it to search engines only to find that no matter what you do, your site still does not feature in the rankings. Are you interested in better search engine rankings? Here are 8 things you can do to improve your rankings and these need to be done before you even submit your site to be indexed. Though the easiest way is to put in your sites in your profiles signatures at popular SEO Forum.

1. Web site Content:

Web site Content is one of the most important factors that will decide the rankings for you. The site pages should provide valuable information on specific subjects rather than providing directory of all free articles found on the web. When a search engine is used to find information, generic terms are rarely used. Rather search engines are used to find specific terms or phrases that describe the product or service people are searching for. One of the important things that your website should have is the niche keywords sprinkled in to the content thus making your pages more relevant to the search engines.

If niche keywords are located in a web page that is carefully constructed to highlight keywords known to produce traffic, the chances that your site will appear in a search result for a very specific search improves. It’s also important to understand that the search engines cannot be tricked by flooding the engines with multiple versions of the same page, repeating the same term over and over - these tactics will only make sure your web site stays out of search engines reach.

2. Link / Web site popularity:

This is one of the most important factors that you should consider for achieving good rankings. Most of the search engines today treat link popularity as one of the factors that determine your ranks in the search engine results. The number of websites that link to your website determine your relevancy for a search term. The link popularity or the incoming links does not necessarily mean that you should be submitting your web site all possible FFA link sites / directories or even classified ad directories.
