In this article I present 5 killer SEO article tips, which have worked effectively for my own home internet business ideas.

1.Keyword Selection.

As a first SEO article action you have to select the keywords very carefully. They are in the main role in this strategy. As you may know keywords are the words, which the searchers type into the Google search bar when they search the things they are interested in.

The best way is to use your website keywords, because they are targeted and the pre-selling of your SEO article happens exactly about the right topic. I would prefer keywords with Overture demand around 1.000 per month to quarantee that your SEO article will reach the first page position on the Google search results.

2.Research The Competition

You can type the main keyword of SEO article into the Google search bar and research whether there are any SEO articles on the first result page. If there is, it means in principally that also a SEO article can rank well with this keyword.. You can also analyze the keywords and their density and also the other SEO factors.

It is also important to analyze the onpage SEO factors of the first 5 sites of the results. If you will find errors in onpage SEO, the chances of your SEO article will increase dramatically, when you will prepare the article along the decent SEO rules. If there are sub-pages among the top 5 sites, even better.

3.The SEO Rules

Write the selected keywords into the headline, teaser and the bio box of the SEO article plus of course into the body copy so that the keyword density will be around 6 % of all the total words of your SEO article.
You can also use H1 and H2 tags ( sub-headlines ) and write your most important keyword into the H1 tag and the second most important into H2 tag.

You can also write your major keyword once in bold, italic and underlined font. These are the candies for the search engines. If you use weaker keywords, cast them here and there into the body copy.

Because keywords of your home internet business ideas SEO article are normally keyphrases, one working strategy is to build a major keyphrases with 5 words of which you can build several supportive keyphrases and thus find more profitable markets, like: internet home income business opportunity, home income business opportunity, income business opportunity, business opportunity, internet home income business, etc.

Make a list of these keyphrases and use them each with the same density in your home internet business ideas SEO article. Your article has now much better chances to rank high in several search results.

4.The Same Content In The SEO Article, Blog And Webpage

A good idea is to use the same home internet business ideas content in several locations. Some article directories can however penalize you, if you do it in the wrong way. So publish your SEO article first in your blog and webpage, wait for 24 hours, then write around 30 % more and after this submit it to the directories. In this way your home internet business ideas SEO article will be in safe.

5.Use The Submission Software

The marketing of home internet business ideas is a numbers game and that is why the publishing has two targets. To bring targeted visitors and to reach a high search engine ranking. Of course you will get much more visitors, if you will use the submission software, which will publish your SEO article in hundreds or thousands of directories and websites with one click of the mouse.

If you have a website then you already know the importance of traffic. Traffic is to Internet marketing as location is to real estate. It’s the only thing that really matters. If you cannot generate targeted visitors to your site, you will not make any sales.

Usually the owner or designer of the website is the person designated to drive traffic to the site. The chief ingredient in generating traffic is the search engine. Of coarse, you can use advertising, but it’s going to cost you. Using the search engines to generate targeted (interested in your product) traffic is the least expensive method known.

Unfortunately, many website owners do not understand the importance of search engine visibility, which leads to traffic. They place more importance on producing a “pretty” website. Not that this is bad, but it is really secondary to search engine placement. Hopefully, the following list of common mistakes, made by many website owners, will help you generate more targeted traffic to your site…after all, isn’t that what you want.

1. Not using keywords effectively.

This is probably one of the most critical area of site design. Choose the right keywords and potential customers will find your site. Use the wrong ones and your site will see little, if any, traffic.

2. Repeating the same keywords.

When you use the same keywords over and over again (called keyword stacking) the search engines may downgrade (or skip) the page or site.

3. Robbing pages from other websites.

How many times have you heard or read that “this is the Internet and it’s ok” to steal icons and text from websites to use on your site. Don’t do it. Its one thing to learn from others who have been there and another to outright copy their work. The search engines are very smart and usually detect page duplication. They may even prevent you from ever being listed by them.

4. Using keywords that are not related to your website.

Many unethical website owners try to gain search engine visibility by using keywords that have nothing at all to do with their website. They place unrelated keywords in a page (such as “sex”, the name of a known celebrity, the hot search topic of the day, etc.) inside a meta tag for a page. The keyword doesn’t have anything to do with the page topic. However, since the keyword is popular, they think this will boost their visibility. This technique is considered spam by the search engines and may cause the page (or sometimes the whole site) to be removed from the search engine listing.

5. Keyword stuffing.

Somewhat like keyword stacking listed above, this means to assign multiple keywords to the description of a graphic or layer that appears on your website by using the “alt=” HTML parameter. If the search engines find that this text does not really describe the graphic or layer it will be considered spam.

6. Relying on hidden text.

You might be inclined to think that if you cannot see it, it doesn’t hurt. Wrong…. Do not try to hide your keywords or keyword phrases by making them invisible. For example, some unethical designers my set the keywords to the same color as the background of the web page; thereby, making it invisible.

7. Relying on tiny text.

This is another version of the item above (relying on hidden text). Do not try to hide your keywords or keyword phrases by making them tiny. Setting the text size of the keywords so small that it can barely be seen does this.

8. Assuming all search engines are the same.

Many people assume that each search engine plays by the same rules. This is not so. Each has their own rule base and is subject to change anytime they so desire. Make it a point to learn what each major search engine requires for high visibility.

9. Using free web hosting.

Do not use free web hosting if you are really serious about increasing site traffic via search engine visibility. Many times the search engines will eliminate content from these free hosts.

10. Forgetting to check for missing web page elements.

Make sure to check every page in your website for completeness, like missing links, graphics, etc. There are sites on the web that will do this for free.

This is just a few of the methods and techniques that you should avoid. Do not give in to the temptation that these methods will work for you. They will do more harm than good for your website.

Not only will you spend weeks of wasted effort, you may have your site banned from the search engines forever. Invest a little time to learn the proper techniques for increasing search engine visibility and your net traffic will increase.

There are numerous factors which a search engine has to consider in order to rank various queries of which link popularity is a crucial factor.
To gain link popularity is not a difficult task but it sure does take a great deal of your time. The importance of relevance in the process of attaining link popularity is often argued upon by several SEO theorists who consider it highly essential. All the means which help in gaining link popularity have their own pros and cons. Hence you have to choose an option which would give you a relevant link without neglecting link popularity.

One effective way of acquiring free inbound links is by submitting your website to one of the many web directories. Most of these web directories do not charge you and you can have some more if you just reciprocate their links. But since this will consume a lot of time considering the large number of directories, most webmasters prefer to submit their site to a large number of high PR directories. So an effective long-run strategy would be to have high PR directories and apparent relevance to give a few excellent links without spending much. And if you submit only to a few directories everyday, you will have a continuous influx of relevant backlinks.

Some webmasters indulge in link exchange in order to get their inbound links easily, the only problem being unavailability of one way links. Moreover there are additional services which automatically perform link exchange thereby saving you a precious amount of time.

In order to gain link popularity and relevant links, you can also write articles and submit them to the article directories. Considering the vast number of article directories you can be assured that your article would count. Although this might be one of the best ways of getting backlinks, it can also prove to be very difficult to get the right material which would rank your page higher especially if your English skills are not ample for the task.

One of the oldest tricks in the bag that webmasters use is to design pages in such a manner that they draw in inbound links. This link-baiting is done by offering a huge list of things like web and article directories or by providing free software. Designing a good link-bait page will give you a large number of results when queried in a search engine. After designing the page it is necessary to advertise the link on other websites like forums and blogs for people to see and further advertise it through their own pages, mails or forums.

Banking on a single method for link popularity will not help. Instead you should use all the possible ways in proportion so as to get a cost-effective, time conserving and efficient means of promoting your page.

Unless you’ve just recently returned from a protracted space furlough cruising around the solar system, you are probably aware that the current Undisputed Heavy Weight Champ of Search is none other than Google a/k/a The Big Dawg of Search! What you may not know however, is how much of a Champ of Search they really are. Recent surveys and polls list Google as hogging more than a whopping 60% of global search market share.

In order to best understand how to keep your website in Google’s good graces you first need to know what their ultimate goal is, or that of any search engine for that matter.

SEARCH IS BIG BUSINESS

Search is a huge money-generating business and not merely a 20th century tool that enables you to conduct research while you slouch on your couch. So how big is the search industry really? Well let’s put it this way; in the year of 2006, online advertising racked up revenue in excess of $16.7 billion dollars and is expected to reach $45 billion in the next five years. Impressive huh?

Anyway these figures should give you some idea of the stakes involved in the search engine industry.

Further, more than 97% of Google’s not inconsiderable fortune is derived from online advertising. Remember as noted earlier, Google commands more than a 60% share of the global search market; which makes for one very good and big reason you should ensure that your website is googlicious (google extra-friendly).

GOOGLE’S OBJECTIVES AS A COMPANY DETERMINE ITS ONLINE BEHAVIOR

We’ve already established that search engines are dedicated to more than simply returning pertinent results to yours or any number of the various billion queries conducted each day; they are dedicated revenue generators.

Google is by far the largest search engine and derives more than 97% of its revenue from online advertising. And let’s not forget that Google is a publicly held company, meaning that it has an obligation to its investors to maximize yearly profits.

This then clues us in to what Google’s main objectives are:

1. Maximize Profits; by

2. Hosting the Largest Number of Advertisers; by

3. Retaining the largest number of conducted online searches; by

4. Supplying the most accurate results per query; which

5. Ensures that more people will use Google as their search engine of choice.

GOOGLE 2007 SHAKEUP

The year 2007 launched with considerable anticipation as well as turbulence for the SEO community. A Google algorithm change or modification that SEO analysts cannot yet as one agree to term either an update or data refresh was the cause of such unrest.

However whether it was an update or data refresh, what is not in contention is that it certainly shook up the SEO horizon and left quite a number of webmasters upset and disgruntled because their websites suddenly lost significant position for targeted keywords. The flip side of this particular coin had a good number of webmasters ecstatic over the realization that that their websites were suddenly ranking very well for their most coveted and targeted keywords.

The ripples of this Google shakeup had authoritative sites (which for time immemorial had been ranking well for particular keywords) suddenly drop several positions on the SERPs and in the worst scenarios disappear completely off the grid! (Most have been reinstated to their former glory.)

This shakeup now also meant that wizened old websites could no longer rely on the age factor alone to guarantee their index listings or page rank. In order to maintain their long coveted positions such sites need to be refreshing data or adding new content regularly.

Disconcerting as these new rules may be there actually is a lot of sense to this approach. Perhaps you may recall that in 2006 Google experienced a server overload super-crisis. There simply were not enough servers to accommodate the burgeoning number of web pages of the ever-expanding internet.

So to alleviate the situation Google adopted a number of modifications of which perhaps the most notable was the one which restricted the Google spider to crawl only those web pages that were accessible via external links. The rationale behind this was that pending the acquisition of new servers only such web pages that were considered of the utmost relevance would make it into the Google index.

Thus it is not too far of a stretch to consider the 2007 Google shakeup as a reinforced strategy on their part to avoid the server debacle of 2006 and by proxy also sharpen the accuracy of their indexed data.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR SITE GOOGLICIOUS IN A WORLD OF UPDATES!

1. KEEP IT FRESH
To maintain or elevate the page rank of your website or its listing on the SERPs, you need to add new content or at least refresh it on a regular basis. In the past it was possible for fairly old websites to remain static yet maintain their high page rank and SERP listing purely based on the age factor. Due to algorithm tweaks following the 2007 Google shakeup that is no longer possible.

2. KEEP THOSE LINKS GROWING
Using inbound links as the premier tool of measure for evaluating the importance of a website is not going to change any time soon. If you consider that an inbound link is an approximate thumbs-up vote for the linked-to site then you easily understand why this measure of evaluation is not about to disappear quite yet.

Certainly not all links are created equal such that links from topically relevant and related web pages are more highly rated than those from topically unrelated web pages. However it is not always possible to get such topically related links but the bottom line: your website is not going to mature on the SERPs or graduate page rank-wise without external inbound links.

There’s also a new twist in the way links are evaluated. Beforehand a high page rank link was the most valuable kind of link, but now that search engines are more sophisticated there’s a new system in play. The strength of a link will be determined by the number of clicks that link garners. In other words a very active PR3 link characterized by a high click-through-rate will score much higher from an SEO point of view than a PR8 link that has next to no clicks! This is just one of the latest ways in which the search engine algorithms are combating artificial link acquirement.

When all is said and done however–keep those links growing!

3. MAINTAIN WEB INTERCONNECTIVITY
From the outset the ideal vision of the internet was one where a mass of data would connect together through a natural progression of topical relevance via links. Well as you’re probably aware, ideal and paradise tend to exist more in the hypothetical realm than the real world.

Anyway back on this theme of interconnectivity, for the longest time it was considered good SEO practice to hoard your page rank as much as possible by having as few outbound links as possible. That has changed and now having next to no outbound links could even result in a minor penalty. It would appear that as the algorithms have smartened up the search engines are now finally reaching for the sky–aiming for that elusive web paradise!

4. KEEP IT STICKY
In the same manner that you can tell how long people are spending on your website from your web stats so can the search engines. The longer visitors spend on your site the stickier your site is said to be. Suffice it to say that the more sticky your site the better as far as search engine optimization goes. A stickier site will improve your page rank and SERP listings. The best way to make your site sticky is to have interesting, valuable and stimulating content!

One of the priorities of any online business owner should be to look for resources that provide web site traffic help. Good ideas and good intentions aren’t enough. Without targeted audience, nothing can be accomplished, and there are a few good ways of achieving it.

SUBMIT YOUR WEBSITE TO THE SEARCH ENGINES
Although it seems like a thing that every webmaster should do, there are many who don’t. And that is a big mistake. Why not submitting your website to the major search engines? It only costs you a bit of your time. Search engines are the most used sites out there, and there is a much greater possibility that people will find you if you are registered in their database.

KEEP A CUSTOMER DATABASE UP AND RUNNING
Your customers are your main source of money. If you don’t keep them satisfied, there’s a big chance you’re going to lose them.

Attract visitors by doing marketing campaigns like discounts or things you can give away for free. Then, make your visitors subscribe to your newsletter. Keep them posted and up to date with everything that’s new and interesting on your website. In turn, if they are satisfied, they may even refer you to their acquaintances which will bring you more targeted traffic.

HAVE HIGH QUALITY CONTENT ON YOUR WEBSITE

Many internet surfers look for quality content they can use in their everyday lives. Aside from the commercial aspect of your site, you can provide them useful pieces of information. This way, they can see more easily where you’re coming from and relate to you.

This not only will increase your traffic, but it will increase your sales. You will be like a professional in their eyes and they will really consider buying from you.

EXCHANGE LINKS WITH OTHER RELATED WEBSITES
Try to convince other webmasters to exchange links with you. This is always going to be a win-win situation because generally speaking, more exposure means more traffic and more traffic usually means more sales.

A word of caution though: try to exchange links with sites that meet your professional demands and always verify that your link is still there. If you exchange links with a site that’s not even close to your professional requirements, you put yourself in a bad light.

PARTICIPTATE IN FORUMS AND DISCUSSION BOARDS
Even though it is going to take you some time, it’s worth it. Don’t try to spam a particular forum’s users with your links.

Try to create bonds with them, act like a professional and provide them with useful pieces of information. They will see you more or less like their mentor, and giving your website’s address will come naturally at one point in time. Have patience, act professionally, and all your efforts will be worth the time you put in.

MAINTAIN A STRONG CONNECTION WITH YOUR BUYERS EVEN AFTER THEY MADE PURCHASE FROM YOU
You know, a person who already said “yes” to your proposal and, of course, has been satisfied by what you had to offer, will most likely do the same next time when your next revolutionary product comes out. They will even recommend you to their friends. So don’t forget about your won battles, they can be your source of success in the future also.

REDUCE THE LOADING TIME OF YOUR PAGE
Unless you’re running a site about funny cartoons, don’t put flash animations on your site. They will slow it down and visitors don’t have the patience for that.

Try to keep it simple, professional and clear. Beauty by simplicity is the hardest one to achieve, and that’s the one which attracts the most. Try not to forget that in your page’s design.

If you are serious about your online business and want to make a decent living, implement these techniques because they are the web site traffic help that you really need.

You’ve just created a website and registered a domain name. You have an awesome product and great content. You think man any day now I am going to get a bunch of people checking out my site. But that day doesn’t come. Sure you get a few visitors each day and maybe even average 20 or 30 unique visitors. But this is never going to get your business off the ground.

Let’s face it there are 2 kinds of traffic on the internet. The paid kind which comes from advertising and pay per click (PPC Google AdWords). And there’s the free kind which comes from the search engines. I don’t know about you but I would much rather prefer to receive sustainable free traffic then the paid kind.

SEO - What is it?

So how do we get free traffic and what’s involved. Free traffic comes from search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN. There are others but these are the major ones. People use search engines to find products and services. In fact most successful online business’ report the majority of the traffic they receive to their sites comes from the search engines. And unless your site appears on the first few pages of a search chances are you will not be noticed very often.

I don’t care if your site provides services, products, or information, search engines are a primary method of navigation for almost all Internet users.

Search Engine Optimization or SEO for short. Is in fact a process of optimizing pages of your website and make them search engine friendly so that they can be positioned in the top of search results for particular keywords.

How Search Engines Function

Search engines run automated programs, called “bots” or “spiders” that visit websites from all over the internet and gather information regarding web pages that are searched by the people. This is otherwise known as having your website crawled.

After crawling the WebPages on your site, the gathered content is stored in a huge searchable database of documents which make up the search engine’s “index”. The search engine arranges this information in various searchable fields, so that when a queried the search engine can scan billions of documents and completes this in fractions of a second.

The results which are displayed are the ones that most accurately portray the information related to the keywords that the user has searched for. A match is determined if the terms or phrase is found on the page in the manner specified by the user. Every search engine has its own algorithm (a mathematical equation commonly used for sorting) and matching criteria to provide the user with the result, so the result may vary for the same keyword in different search engines.

Ranking Results:-
Results are ranked based on a number of different criteria. They start from the top of the list being the most relevant to the bottom which is the least relevant. One of the key most important factors is keyword relevance. And in order to rank highly based on keyword relevance you need to have pages related to a specific keyword phrase.

Steps to SEO
Bellow is the list of general steps to optimize the website in order to get the higher rankings in the search engines.

Keywords Analysis:-

Keywords are words or phrases the potential customer may use to search any business for their needs. For example if you are a taxation service provider in USA, “Tax Refund USA”, is called a keyword. The first step in Search Engine Optimization is identifying the important keywords for your business. You can determine this list by analyzing your business & your competitors, in order to determine which words should be targeted. Here is an example of a list of keywords for the taxation service provider in USA,

Tax Return USA
Tax Refund USA

USA TaxRapid
Tax Refund
Online Tax USA

Keyword Analysis also includes looking at how many people search for a given term to determine how popular it is and hence its importance. Based on this keyword analysis optimization of the given web site is done to get you the best possible rank on the search engines.

On page Off Page Optimization:-

There are 2 types of optimization that must be performed. First is On Page. This essentially means things that will be done to the coding of your existing pages. After analyzing the keywords you must optimize the web site based on these keywords. Web site optimization includes:
Meta Tags Optimization, Keyword Enrichment and Interlinking of site pages. First optimize your sites meta tags. Change this to include keywords which you are looking to target. Then carefully add a blending of those keywords within your websites content so search engines can read them. At last the interlinking of your website’s pages is established, so the search engines can easily “crawl” your web site to read and rank them based on your keywords.

Link Exchange:-
Now for Off Page Optimization. This is one of the most important and powerful step in the SEO process. Search engines count Link popularity when ranking the site. So the number of incoming links to a site from related sites is very important. These back links can be achieved by exchanging links with other sites. Seek out other high ranking sites that are related to your site and ask for a reciprocal link. This will help you greatly.

Paid Traffic

Pay Per Click Campaigns:-

The search engine results pages contain not only listings of documents found to be relevant to the user’s query, but other content, including paid advertisements. “Pay Per Click” - PPC is the secondary source results for search engines. Google, for example, serves up ads from its well-known AdWords Program. In short for PPC, we have to pay for the advertisement we want to display on search engine results. The nice thing about Pay Per Click is that one only needs to pay when someone clicks on his/her advertisement. But to get best result from this Pay Per Click Campaign, the website needs to be combined with good website optimization. Be careful when using this type of traffic generation. I have seen many people spend many thousands of dollars/month for this type of exposure.

So there you have it. Traffic the free kind and the paid kind. And we all agree that the free kind is the best traffic to get. Just imagine how your business would succeed with hundreds of targeted visitors each day who find your site based on a key phrase entered into a major search engine.

Sometimes we rank well on one engine for a particular keyphrase and assume that all search engines will like our pages, and hence we will rank well for that keyphrase on a number of engines. Unfortunately this is rarely the case. All the major search engines differ somewhat, so what’s get you ranked high on one engine may actually help to lower your ranking on another engine.

It is for this reason that some people like to optimize pages for each particular search engine. Usually these pages would only be slightly different but this slight difference could make all the difference when it comes to ranking high.

However because search engine spiders crawl through sites indexing every page it can find, it might come across your search engine specific optimizes pages and because they are very similar, the spider may think you are spamming it and will do one of two things, ban your site altogether or severely punish you in the form of lower rankings.

The solution is this case is to stop specific Search Engine spiders from indexing some of your web pages. This is done using a robots.txt file which resides on your webspace.

A Robots.txt file is a vital part of any webmasters battle against getting banned or punished by the search engines if he or she designs different pages for different search engine’s.

The robots.txt file is just a simple text file as the file extension suggests. It’s created using a simple text editor like notepad or WordPad, complicated word processors such as Microsoft Word will only corrupt the file.

You can insert certain code in this text file to make it work. This is how it can be done.

User-Agent: (Spider Name)
Disallow: (File Name)

The User-Agent is the name of the search engines spider and Disallow is the name of the file that you don’t want that spider to index.

You have to start a new batch of code for each engine, but if you want to list multiply disallow files you can one under another. For example

User-Agent: Slurp (Inktomi’s spider)

Disallow: xyz-gg.html
Disallow: xyz-al.html
Disallow: xxyyzz-gg.html
Disallow: xxyyzz-al.html

The above code disallows Inktomi to spider two pages optimized for Google (gg) and two pages optimized for AltaVista (al). If Inktomi were allowed to spider these pages as well as the pages specifically made for Inktomi, you may run the risk of being banned or penalized. Hence, it’s always a good idea to use a robots.txt file.

The robots.txt file resides on your webspace, but where on your webspace? The root directory! If you upload your file to sub-directories it will not work. If you wanted to disallow all engines from indexing a file, you simply use the “*” character where the engines name would usually be. However beware that the “*” character won’t work on the Disallow line.

Here are the names of a few of the big engines:

Excite - ArchitextSpider
AltaVista - Scooter
Lycos - Lycos_Spider_(T-Rex)
Google - Googlebot
Alltheweb - FAST-WebCrawler

Be sure to check over the file before uploading it, as you may have made a simple mistake, which could mean your pages are indexed by engines you don’t want to index them, or even worse none of your pages might be indexed.

In this world of online marketing, advertising and auctions, a person must be always one step ahead. Businesses all over the world are clamoring for their advertisements to be put up everywhere. Big and small, they want to be seen and their way to do this is through you, yes you, you website owner.

Using Google Adsense, you can have these ads placed in your site. They are often pertinent to your site’s content and are related to each other. Now, all you need is to apply, to write web articles of superior quality and to build up traffic to your site

Through Google Adwords, businesses can make text, image or even video containing advertisements. These advertisements are the one’s that would be displayed in your page. The content of the ads will depend upon the subject matter tackled on your site.

The number of times viewers click on the ads or the number of times the ads appear on your site will determine your revenue. The more clicks or display, the more profit for you. This is why there’s a need to amplify the traffic directed to your site.

In Google Adsense, the ads go through an auction that happens almost instantly. For example, if there are 3 advertisements about ergonomic chairs that are clamoring for space in your site, an auction will be held and the one that will bid highest will be the one placed on your site.

The bidding will be upon the cost each click will generate that is set up by the advertiser. The higher the cost, the higher your revenue will be.

To start using Adsense, you need to file an online application. It takes only minutes to complete the form. Google Adsense is generated by Javascript, so you will be given a code to embed into your page’s source.

What you need to do next is to create well written and excellent quality articles on your page. These articles will be the basis of what kinds of ads will appear on your page. The more topics you cover, the more diverse the ads will be.

If you can’t write well yourself, you can try looking up freelancers or ghostwriters to write them for you. There are a lot of them waiting for you out there so go ahead and look.

Afterwards, you need to build up the traffic to your site. You can do this in three ways:

1. By increasing the frequency of the keyword appearing on your pages. Increasing the frequency will also increase your page rank in the search engines, therefore making people go to your website first.

2. Joining forums and discussions relevant to your site. Forums usually have a lot of members and these members will help greatly in increasing the traffic to your site.

3. Linking to sister sites. Find sites that are posting similar or the same topics as yours and ask them for a link exchange. This will be of mutual benefit to both of you.

Other features of Adsense include:

a. Allowing only suitable and children-friendly ads

Have you created a web site and submitted it to search engines only to find that no matter what you do, your site still does not feature in the rankings. Are you interested in better search engine rankings? Here are 8 things you can do to improve your rankings and these need to be done before you even submit your site to be indexed. Though the easiest way is to put in your sites in your profiles signatures at popular SEO Forum.

1. Web site Content:

Web site Content is one of the most important factors that will decide the rankings for you. The site pages should provide valuable information on specific subjects rather than providing directory of all free articles found on the web. When a search engine is used to find information, generic terms are rarely used. Rather search engines are used to find specific terms or phrases that describe the product or service people are searching for. One of the important things that your website should have is the niche keywords sprinkled in to the content thus making your pages more relevant to the search engines.

If niche keywords are located in a web page that is carefully constructed to highlight keywords known to produce traffic, the chances that your site will appear in a search result for a very specific search improves. It’s also important to understand that the search engines cannot be tricked by flooding the engines with multiple versions of the same page, repeating the same term over and over - these tactics will only make sure your web site stays out of search engines reach.

2. Link / Web site popularity:

This is one of the most important factors that you should consider for achieving good rankings. Most of the search engines today treat link popularity as one of the factors that determine your ranks in the search engine results. The number of websites that link to your website determine your relevancy for a search term. The link popularity or the incoming links does not necessarily mean that you should be submitting your web site all possible FFA link sites / directories or even classified ad directories.

The best way to get links to your web site would be to type in the search terms that you are targeting in your favorite search engines. You should visit the sites returned by your search engine and look carefully for adding links or exchanging links. Most of the web sites today provide an link exchange option. using Google toolbar to see the page rank for these web sites will be helpful since exchanging links with web sites with Page Rank 5 and above is definitely going to improve your chances of getting your site indexed.

The next important things that should be considered when optimizing your web site are the Off-page and the on-page elements. some of the on page elements are Title Tag, META Tags, Heading, ALT Tag and highlighting of the text using BOLD tag. The Link tag i.e. the A Tag is considered as an important off page element.

3. Meta Tags:

Meta-Tags are the HTML tags that will be used to describe the web page. You need to put the important keywords for your web page as well as the brief description of your web page in these tags. Though these tags are not directly visible to the users, they serve an important purpose of guiding the search engines through your page. Although the importance of META TAGS has reduced significantly today, they still help the search engines to decide on the relevancy of your page with the search keyword.

The META Keywords should contain important keywords and phrases you are targeting for your web site. They should be consistent with the HTML Body Text and Page Title. You must make sure you are not stuffing the META tag with keywords which would annoy the search engines. Ideally the META keyword tag should contain 100-150 characters. Being specific and accurate is the mantra to success with keywords.

The META Description tag will contain a brief description about your web site, services provided by you. The description you put in the META description tag should be relevant to the content on the page where this tag is located. i.e. You should not be talking about your product in these tags when the page contains some article on unrelated topic. The description you provide for your page has to convince the person that you are providing exactly what want. How would you feel to visit a page with stuffed keywords but no relevancy to the content.

4. TITLE Tags:

Ideally the title tags should contain 50-80 characters with your important keywords embedded in them and more importantly should be relevant to the content in the page. if multiple keywords are to be used in the Title tags they can be separated using a | (Pipe), though it must be seen that keywords are not stuffed in the Title Tag. Moreover the keywords in the title tags should be readable and should describe the content of the page.

5. Heading Tags:

The Heading tags are given more weightage than the ordinary text. The higher the H tag the more weightage it carries. You need to make use of the Heading tags to highlight the important keywords in the paragraph headers. These keywords should be used to describe the contents of the paragraphs on your page. this will ensure that you are not stuffing the page with keywords but they are a part of the flow on the page.

6. Bold text

The important keywords in your page should be put in the bold tags. Normally the bold text has more weightage than ordinary text. Even Though the bold tags are considered to be less important than the Heading tags, they are still important to be ignored. Make sure to enclose the search term in bold tags when it appears on the page.

7.Alt text

The Alt tags are normally used by the browsers if they are unable to load the images. Some of the users might have disabled downloading graphics on their browsers, or if the images are too heavy to download for the users internet connection. Having your important keywords to describe the images will help you get the important keywords on the page, As much as possible try to include the search term in the alt text of all images on the page. Beware, naming all your images like spacers, irrelevant images with the keywords might be a shortcut to get yourself banned with the search engines.

8. Off-page elements:

Link text - This is considered as an important factor in good rankings. The link text might have been placed on your own sites or other web sites linking your site. Either way, it is important. Ideally the link text should contain an important keyword describing the target page. Make sure you do not use identical link text for every link. The text links will have even more weightage if the text around them is related with the target page’s topic and search keywords.

If the website is optimized for the above points, it definitely will help you get a better search engine rankings.
